On Wednesday, the FDA and its partner pharmaceutical companies announced that the agency is approving the first-in-class version of its blockbuster erectile dysfunction drug, Viagra, that will be available to the public beginning in June, according to an FDA announcement.

The FDA approved the new version of Cialis to treat erectile dysfunction in 1998, when a study in the journal found that men who took an effective daily dose of sildenafil had lower rates of sexual activity in comparison to men who took a placebo.
Cialis has been shown to be effective and safe for most men, although studies have shown that men taking an effective daily dose of sildenafil may experience better erections and improved sexual function in a small number of patients.
